PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS
Biodiversity
While several of the species photographed in the Project Zone at the Project’s related site in Paraguay are adaptable to living in either forested landscapes or open grasslands, there is still a threat to these species if the without-project scenario was maintained. The collared peccary (Pecari tajacu) and giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), adapt to forested landscapes and open grasslands but face threats from cattle ranching. The project protects species such as the puma (Puma concolor), jaguar (Panthera onca), gray brocket deer (Mazama gouazoubira), lowland tapir (Tapirus terrestris), southern three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes matacus), giant armadillo (Priodontes maximus), southern tamandua (Tamandua tetradactyla), and tayra (Eira barbara).
