Biodiversity
Through large-scale forest restoration efforts, the project will create valuable wildlife habitat corridors for a range of species, including the following IUCN Red List of Threatened Species:
White-bellied pangolin (Phataginus tricuspis; endangered)
Giant ground pangolin (Smutsia gigantea; endangered)
Spot-nosed monkey (Cercopithecus petaurista; near threatened)
Community benefits
Community Restoration of Native Ecosystems in Ghana Project will:
- Promote sustainable and gender-equitable income generation through permanent and seasonal employment in forest restoration, nursery operations, and site maintenance; and
- Enhance incomes and food security by offering opportunities in small-scale agroforestry for local community members in remote areas.
