Through the implementation of community driven sustainable grazing management practices, the project will restore valuable wildlife habitat corridors for a range of species, including:
- Black Rhino (Diceros bicornis; critically endangered);
- African Savanna Elephant (Loxodonta africana; endangered);
- Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis; vulnerable); and
- Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus; vulnerable).
Community Benefits
Entooma Sidai: A Maasai Mara Rangeland Restoration and Conservation Project will:
- Restore perennial grasses and improve water management techniques;
- Increase the number of healthy livestock yielding more milk and meat for improved food security and well-being;
- Create employment opportunities in implementing and monitoring sustainable grazing management practices; and
- Support other needs, at the communities’ discretion, like livestock vaccination and breeding programs; fodder production and storage; and improved schools, health clinics, and/or roads.
