Carlos is an environmental engineer from the National University of Asunción with a specialization in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing from the Universidad del Pacífico and a specialization in Data Sciences from the Universidad Comunera – Paraguay. Through his contribution from GIS and Remote Sensing, Carlos has collaborated on projects of various scales and areas related to environmental sciences and sustainable development. From research projects with an emphasis on conservation in priority areas such as the Atlantic Forest of Alto Paraná, the Cerrado in Paraguay and Amazonas in Brazil for REDD+ projects, to massive processing of data from remote sensing for applications in monitoring land cover and use at the country level, anthropic pressures, forest biomass estimation, analysis of environmental and social vulnerability and even epidemiology for both private and governmental and international institutions such as WWF-Paraguay, FAO and UNDP.
Carlos is currently a programming enthusiast having developed tools that provide solutions to problems mainly in the environmental and social area through programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, JavaScript and HTML. Also, he has developed interest in fauna monitoring for groups such as birds, mammals and reptiles and its relationships with land cover and habitat fragmentation and other areas of ecology.
